CCFEMS 16 - Tommy behind the wheel of E16

Pay day means paying bills and grocery shopping. Exciting stuff. Bailey and I detoured to our favourite pet shop to visit the puppies and pick up something for Indy. They had a baby boy blonde golden retriever but their sale price was actually more than what we'd paid for Indy! Not that I can bring home another dog. Just saying. They did have a gorgeous Macaw that they were selling with the appropriate cage for $750. If I didn't know better that you only buy a parrot if you nurse it from birth, that would be such an awesome deal.

We had dinner at Golden Corral in Punta Gorda before meeting Bailey's father for her visitation. After that, I took an update photo of PGFD 2 (forgot the hard hat!) and went out to CCFEMS 16 for some visiting. Tommy had fun with E16 and we talked with Gary and Mark for a bit.

No plans for the weekend, yet. I'd like to do something, though.

Basil

We went grocery shopping today and in the spirit of the South Beach Diet, I potted some herbs to keep fresh for food and tea. I made a couple different choices, picking up thai basil and pineapple sage. I've already been impressed by the thai basil. I also got a mosquito plant and we'll see if it helps any throughout the Summer.

I also got an orchid for Bailey to keep in her room. I had to do a bit of learning to know how to pot the thing and take care of it, then teach her. She's in love with it. We'll see how this goes.

This weekend is scheduled for thrilling spring cleaning. Everybody looks forward to that, letmetellyou! Tommy's marker and crayon masterpieces come off the walls and everything gets put into tip top shape. That way, we have good reason to make it all a mess again by tie-dying t-shirts on Monday! They decided they wanted matching shirts and chose blue. This will make a fantastic group portrait.

My flights arrived today. I didn't do anything with them until this evening after everybody had gone to bed so I'll photograph them tomorrow when the dog isn't sleeping by the dartboard.

The kids watched Snow Buddies this evening and loved it. A whole movie full of little Indys! Michael is interested to watch Henry V and Hamlet with me. I'll be amazed if he lasts through it but I'm hoping my enthusiasm for it will keep him hanging on. Shakespeare went over my head until high school, and even then... Tom wants to watch these with me, despite him flaking when I rented Hamlet last year. I'll hold on to them for him to come home from this trip to watch them.

After those go back, the next round will include Dane Cook: Vicious Circles. I'm really in the mood for some stand-up and, even moreso, some Dane Cook. Until then, here's a clip, courtesy of Youtube:

Flames - Standard Holographic Flights

It's not much but it makes me happy. This is just a set of standard flights that'll look awesome on my darts. They were cheap off eBay and should be here the day after they're shipped since the seller lives around the corner (in worldwide terms).

eBay Motors is a hard place to look away from. I always check out what Scouts are available. There's currently one in Knoxville that would be sweet. We're a long ways away from having the spare cash to put into a third vehicle that's purely for recreation.

I bought new sneakers today. My old sneakers were cheap and they hurt my feet after wearing them for an extended time. I kept them because I so seldom wore sneakers that it didn't seem to matter. I bought the new pair so I could run again, and that is what I'll do. They are very comfortable, thank goodness, and they don't make my feet look big. I wear a [US ladies size] 7-1/2 and certain shoes make my feet look like battleships, so, yeah, it's an issue for me.

I need a new pair of Timberlands. I used to have a pair of the Euro Hiker, but my daughter's father threw them away "because they were muddy". I kid you not! You can't make that shit up. $100 hiking boots isn't exactly a purchase you make on the fly so there's a reason why they haven't been replaced, yet. I have cheap stuff from Target right now but it doesn't provide the necessary support for serious hikes. It's basically just shoes to wear with jeans that look like hiking boots.

New boots are always on the shopping list. I've worn my black ones with the 4" heel completely out. I need a stylish pair of cowboy boots and another sassy high heel pair.

Notice my use of verb here: need, not want. Need. These are shoes we're talking about.

I'm still on The Quest for the Perfect Sandal. I had it once but the dog chewed them!

This textured strappy sandal from Victoria Secret is absolutely delicious, but it's not really a sandal as much as a dress shoe. The Quest for the Perfect Sandal requires a sandal that I can walk on sand with... hence the very name of the shoe... I would still love this shoe from VS, but for non-beach-related reasons.

The baby and I stopped by St. Maxmilian Kolbe Catholic Church off Spears St. in Port Charlotte to take a few pictures this morning. Here's a few more pictures:

The children having cameras is one of the best things to have happened to this family. They love to capture and be creative, and they have something tangible for their efforts. There are times when Michael and I can just walk around the neighbourhood and shoot whatever we see.

In personal news, I've spoken with my attorney today and feel more comfortable. Wednesday should go as planned, although I'm still not entirely clear on the details but I'll work with it all when I get there. St. Valentine's Day is Thursday and planning for Eddie's birthday party next Saturday begins tomorrow. He's given a final answer on a theme, Transformers, so I start shopping and making commitments. I snagged a wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens for my camera off eBay and am looking forward to their arrival.
